A fun new experience last night as we went out to see the cricket (it's always "the cricket" in that context, not just "cricket") with some of Marjorie's work friends at the Melbourne legendary MCG. I brought along a printout of this page which explains cricket so Americans can understand, and ended up quite enjoying it, despite occasional confusion. The results were good too. It lasted from 2:30 to 9:40 or so (and bear in mind this is the shortened version of cricket), but we didn't show up until 5ish. Probably the biggest crowd at any sporting event I've ever been to, too -- the attendance topped 78,000, and the crowd was as much fun to watch as the match.

The alcohol free January is all ready wearing thin with one of us. Mark drinks more than me generally, but he's better at self-deprivation (or self-control, one of those). I'll make it alco-free for the rest of the week, but come the weekend I may let myself have a glass of wine.
Mark and I will check out our first Cricket game this Friday night at the MCG (Melbourne Cricket Grounds). We were invited to come out for a game by some of my co-workers, and decided to come along since we've never seen the cricket, and haven't even been to the MCG for a footy game yet. I'm predicting that the cricket will be even more boring than a baseball game, but like baseball, I'll be there for the crowd scene.
And in career news, I had an interview today for a position within the business sector of DCS (as opposed to directly supporting clients, this department supports the agencies that support the clients). I'm hoping to be offered the position, though I'm not sure yet if I'll take it. My boss found out I was interested in the role and made me a counter offer of a project management role in my department to keep me there. I'm undecided about which position I want most. At the moment I just want the luxury of choice, so wish me luck. Anyway, the interview went well, so anything's possible.
