American Idol:
Today is a very good day to be an American living overseas (or anywhere). Especially after the past 8 years of embarrassment. Mark posted on Facebook that he's been singing "ding dong the witch is dead" and that seems about right. Good riddance Mr. Bush. You will be remembered as the WORST President of all time.
Obama's got a hell of a lot of work to do now, but he seems like the right man for the challenge. I'm continuously amazed at how gracious and unifying he is. After so many years of divisive "hater" politics this is so tremendously welcome.
And in case you can't feel it within the USA, let me reassure you that this is the world's victory. Australia has totally embraced Obama, and a friend of mine who just returned from Indonesia said Obama-mania had most definitely taken hold there (understandable as he lived in Jakarta as a child).
What a day, and what a relief to finally be able to hold up my head proudly when asked where I'm from. Now I need to come up with another reason for moving overseas as the old joke of "I'm a Bush refugee" no longer cuts it.
